2. Another option is to allow students out-of-classroom time to find and prepare sounds. Although this, most likely, does not encourage “un-obvious” sound exploration (e.g., if I have to make a gunshot sound, given time, it’s easy to access a cap gun and fire it, but if I have only a rubber band, garbage can and a pencil, I need to use my imagination much more), we might use it to promote and develop an appreciation of field recording.
